The setting is the Atlanta, Georgia area in the 60s. An elderly woman who is set in her ways has a new chauffeur. The elderly Southern Jewish matron and her chauffeur, a wise, loyal, relaxed black man, continue to confront one another as Miss Daisy is proven to be a cantankerous old lady. She does her best to get rid of the patient chauffeur but his honesty and patience surprises Miss Daisy.

With humor and tenderness, the pace of the movie allows for the progress of characters, but there's never a boring moment.
