Sony PS5 Rumor: Someone Just Spoiled the VR Announcement?

Brace yourselves: The PSVR2 is coming.

Ever since Sony bowed out of E3 in 2020, Rumors have been circulating that February of 2020 will mark the time of the official PS5 reveal. However, with the most recent leak to date, Sony might not have any surprises left for its press conference.

Turns out, the Playstation VR2 headset was set to be revealed at Sony's New York press conference, according to TechBriefly.

In 2020, Sony will release PlayStation 5 and a new version of the PlayStation VR headset (PSVR), which will further expand the high-end VR user base – the group intends to support this device with its current software package

PSVR had a moderate level of success when it was first launched in October of 2016, selling a grand total of 5 million units globally. So, the PSVR2 seems like the logical next step for the future of gaming.

With a seemingly non-stop barrage of  new PS4 leaks in 2019, it's hard to imagine Sony has any surprises left to show. We already know what every version of the PS5 dev kit looks like, and there are even rumors of a leaked controller floating around.

Specific details about the PS5 specs have leaked as well, even some claiming that the SSD in the PS5 will be double the speed of the Xbox series X's drive.

Let's hope this turns out out be true, because VR needs to have all the competition it can get to drive prices down.
