The news was announced on GT's official twitter account February 8th, following an official announcement on their website.
GameTrailers was established way back in 2002, and was the only venue on the internet specializing in video game related video content on the web at the time. GT predated industry video giants like YouTube and Ebaumsworld when it came to online video streaming.
After the company was purchased by Defy Media back in 2014, many employees of GT were almost immediately laid off, with even more employees being terminated back in 2015. No word yet as to the future of its employees, or where they will go from here. We can only hope for the best.
