Hunnam who plays Lieutenant Percy Fawcett.

Based on a true story from David Grann’s non-fiction bestseller of Lieutenant Percy Fawcett, a famed British explorer and geography archaeologist, who made numerous expeditions into the Amazon in the early 1900s. Fawcett, who is more like a real life Indiana Jones, is assigned by The British Royal Geographic Society to map and settle the dispute over the border between Bolivia and Brazil. Upon suggesting this exploration, The British Royal Geographic Society is really actually interested in the very profitable rubber plantation.


As Fawcett accepts this exploration, only to reclaim his family's name, and earn soldiery decoration, he and his crew, journeys into the Amazon.

Upon exploring, he realizes that there is a possible lost city that has never been discovered by the white man, and reasons that the indigenous tribes people are their equals

These 2 revelations are an open rebuke to the British Empire and the belief into its own cultural superiority.


Determined to find this lost city, Fawcett become obsessed by this idea as he continues to make journey after journey to the Amazon. He will not stop until he proves to the world that there is a Lost City of Z.

In The Lost City of Z, James Gray offers a gifted and perceptive interpretation of Fawcett’s heroine adventures. This beautiful rich visual cinematic film is shot on 35mm film by the great cinematographer, Darius Congi.
Grays' films such as We Own The Night and The Immigrant, reveals again that he is a meaningful classicist in Hollywood film.

Charlie Hunnam’s performance was remarkable, as he played true to his convincing character.
