Valve Accidentally Launched Live Streaming Service Steam.TV Early

When Valve isn't busy never launching Half Life 3, the famous software development company is working overtime to exploit its extremely popular software curating service known as STEAM for PC.

So on Friday, August 17th, Valve accidentally launched a live broadcast from their super secret live game broadcasting service, Seam.tv.

According to an interview with The Verge, a valve spokesperson claimed that what people saw was an accident, and had been intended to improve live broadcasts of the upcoming Dota 2 international tournament.

We are working on updating Steam Broadcasting for the Main Event of The International, Dota 2’s annual tournament... What people saw was a test feed that was inadvertently made public..
What people did see of the Steam.tv stream was remarkably basic, and looks surprisingly similar to the live streaming underdog known as Stream.ME. It only streamed Dota 2 footage, and Steam users could log in with their accounts and leave comments on the one stream that was open.

Despite the fact that there were no options for users to live stream their own games, this didn't stop the gaming press from making click-bait headlines and writing long winded speculation about this Dota E-sports live streaming test being a direct competitor to Twitch.tv.
